Check a Tesla referral link before you use it
Short answer
A genuine Tesla referral link starts with https://www.tesla.com/, has an optional store segment such as en_gb/, then referral/ and the owner's code — nothing else. Paste one below to see which store it opens and whether it matches yours.
No link yet? Here's one for your store
Store United States
tesla.com/referral/john580308
Referral link: if you order through it, this site's owners may earn Tesla credits. Tesla applies any buyer benefit at checkout. Independent — not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
The checker
What each result means
- Looks like a normal Tesla referral link
On tesla.com, in the form
/referral/codeor/store/referral/code, for the same store we detected for you. It still can't tell you whether that owner has referrals left — the page will say “limit has been reached” if not. - A different store from yours
A real Tesla address for another country. Fine if you really are ordering there; otherwise use the corrected link the checker prints — same code, your store.
- Short link — the store isn't in it
ts.lais Tesla's short-link domain. The short form can't show which store it opens, so the checker offers the full link for your store instead. - Hidden destination (link shortener)
bit.ly, tinyurl and similar hide where a link goes. Ask the sender for the full tesla.com link.
- Not Tesla's address — it only looks like it
Addresses like
tesla-com.exampleor with swapped letters imitate Tesla. Don't sign in or pay there. - Store in the wrong place
A store segment after “referral” (
/referral/de_de/…) — a malformed link we've seen circulating. The checker rebuilds it correctly. - That's a code, not a link
A bare code can't be typed anywhere at Tesla. The checker turns it into a link for your store.
- Extra parameters after the code
Anything after a “?” isn't part of the referral. Harmless tracking can be dropped; a redirect parameter (
url=,redirect=) is a red flag.
What the checker can't tell you
It reads the link's text — host, store, path, code shape — and nothing else. It makes no network request, so it can't see whether the owner's code is still active, whether they've hit their 10 referrals for the year, or what Tesla's page shows today. Opening the link answers those: a live referral page shows the owner's name and benefit cards; a used-up one says “Referral Limit Has Been Reached”.
Nothing you paste is stored or sent anywhere. If analytics is enabled on this site, the only thing recorded is the kind of result (for example “short link”), never the link itself — it may contain someone's code.
